About Unicollege
This website presents Unicollege’s international programs and partnerships for students, families, faculty, and institutions in North America and worldwide; the University’s complete institutional profile is available at unicollege.eu.
Unicollege is an Italian degree-awarding university accredited by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and operating within the European Higher Education Area. Established in Mantua in the 1970s and accredited as a degree-awarding institution in 2003, the University has developed into a multidisciplinary institution with academic activity in Florence, Mantua, Turin, and Milan. Its undergraduate, graduate, and joint doctoral programs span the humanities, business, social sciences, communication, diplomacy, applied languages, education, technology, and artificial intelligence. Academic programs are structured within the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), with course documentation, contact hours, learning outcomes, assessment, and official transcripts organized to remain intelligible across Italian, European, and North American higher-education systems.

International education at Unicollege is built around a deliberately institutional model. Rather than relying on third-party study-abroad providers, the University develops its international activity through direct university-to-university partnerships, allowing academic standards, credit recognition, student access, program design, and financial arrangements to remain with the institutions themselves. Today, Unicollege works with more than 90 partner universities across over 40 countries, including more than 40 institutions in the United States and Canada. These relationships support semester and year-abroad study, reciprocal mobility, faculty exchanges, internships, Collaborative Online International Learning, language programs, joint initiatives, and faculty-led programs developed peer to peer around the sending university’s curriculum, faculty priorities, student community, and budget.
For international students and faculty, Unicollege operates as an English-speaking academic environment. English is the common language of instruction and international administration, while advising, enrollment, academic records, student services, and institutional coordination are managed within a framework intended to be readily understood by international partners. Visiting students enter the same university infrastructure used by degree-seeking students: classrooms, IT and language laboratories, interpreting facilities, academic offices, front desks, student services, residences at selected campuses, and the broader academic life of the institution. This integration is central to the Unicollege model: international students are not placed in a separate study-abroad center, but become part of an Italian university community.

The University’s academic community is international in both composition and outlook. Its faculty and wider academic network include scholars connected with institutions such as Harvard University, Leiden University, the University of Strasbourg, Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Hamburg, and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Unicollege also participates actively in the international higher-education community through organizations including NAFSA: Association of International Educators and The Forum on Education Abroad, and through regular participation in international conferences, university fairs, partnership meetings, and faculty exchanges. These engagements are not ancillary to the University’s work; they are part of a broader commitment to shared academic standards, institutional accountability, and sustained collaboration across higher-education systems.

Accessibility is treated as an institutional responsibility alongside academic quality. Through reciprocal agreements, eligible students may participate in tuition-waived reciprocal opportunities, while Unicollege also allocates scholarship funding directly to international programs. For students from U.S. institutions, the University supports models designed to preserve the continuity of eligible home-institution financial aid, including institutional scholarships and, where applicable and subject to home-university authorization, Title IV federal aid and Pell Grant funding. Faculty-led programs follow the same principle of access: programs are developed directly between universities, with academic content, destination, duration, and financial parameters shaped in collaboration with the faculty leader and partner institution rather than imposed through a standardized commercial package.

Underlying this international activity is the structure of a university: academic governance, ministerial oversight, quality assurance, elected student representation, disciplinary departments, and a pedagogical framework designed to connect knowledge with application and experience. Through its 3As Learning Model — Acquire, Apply, Amplify — Unicollege integrates academic instruction, supervised practice, and experiential learning across degree and international programs. The result is an institution that remains distinctly Italian in its academic foundations while operating comfortably across borders: a university in which students, faculty, and partner institutions from North America and around the world can study, teach, and collaborate within a shared academic framework.
