Internship Abroad at Unicollege is structured as academically supervised experiential learning. Whether pursued as a professional enrichment experience or as a credit-bearing component, internships are integrated within a documented academic framework that ensures oversight, evaluation, and transfer legibility.
Internships are particularly suited to students in education, pedagogy, humanities, linguistics, psychology, social sciences, and related disciplines. Availability and eligibility depend on academic background, language proficiency, institutional context, and partner requirements.
Academic Supervision and Credit Integration
Internships, when offered for credit, are governed through:
A standard 3 US credit internship consists of approximately 45 hours of supervised activity. Extended placements of approximately 90 hours may be structured for 6 US or 9 US credits, subject to approval and academic alignment.
Students complete structured academic work connecting practice to theory, ensuring meaningful evaluation by home departments.
Non-Credit Pathway
Non-credit internships maintain the same supervision and academic reflection requirements but conclude with:

Internship participation is conditional and subject to confirmation by the Unicollege Admissions Office. Placement cannot be guaranteed and depends on disciplinary fit, academic standing, GPA, and institutional context.
Students indicate their preferred area during the application process. As a para-professional experience, candidates are evaluated on academic background and readiness for supervised engagement.
Where applicable, participation in credit-bearing internships may entail an additional administrative contribution in accordance with program policies.
Enrollments for all study abroad programs are open year round, and students are placed in the next available academic session. Applications are accepted at any time during the year.
Students may choose to study at Unicollege campuses in Florence, Mantua, Milan, or Turin. Each location offers a distinct academic and cultural environment while operating under a unified institutional framework, academic regulations, and quality standards.
Housing
Unicollege provides structured housing solutions for international and visiting students designed to ensure safety, proximity to campus, and consistency with academic calendars. Housing arrangements are coordinated directly by Unicollege as part of the study abroad framework and are intended to support students throughout their academic term. On-campus residence is mandatory for all international students; where on-campus capacity is limited, placement will be arranged—based on availability—in university-managed housing. All international students are required to reside in university-managed housing or in accommodations formally affiliated with Unicollege.
Students are primarily housed in on-campus residences. When on-campus capacity is reached, accommodation is arranged within Unicollege’s established housing network, which includes affiliated apartments and residential facilities located in close proximity to the campus. All housing options meet institutional standards of safety, accessibility, and academic integration. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. While every effort is made to prioritize on-campus placement, Unicollege reserves the right to allocate students to alternative approved accommodations within its network, including vetted housing providers or verified host families, in order to ensure continuity of services and compliance with institutional requirements. Housing placements are confirmed prior to arrival whenever possible. Final details, including address and check-in instructions, are communicated to students before the start of the academic term.
Accommodation types may vary by location and availability and span a range of configurations, including single rooms, single rooms with ensuite facilities, double rooms with separate beds or bunk beds, triple and quadruple rooms, as well as apartment-style accommodations designed for one or two occupants. Standard amenities across all housing options include fully equipped kitchens, full bathrooms with sinks and showers, separate toilet facilities, laundry areas with washing machines and dryers, shared living rooms, Wi-Fi access, and air conditioning where applicable. All housing is furnished and suitable for medium- to long-term academic stays.
A meal plan is included in all Unicollege study abroad programs. Meals are normally provided on campus at the Unicollege cafeteria; in exceptional or seasonal circumstances, approved alternative solutions may be implemented. The standard meal plan includes one daily meal, typically consisting of a main course, a drink, and coffee. Details regarding meal services are shared with students prior to arrival. Unicollege Premises and Campuses
As part of UniCollege’s broader study abroad experience—outlined in the program structure and academic framework—students may also choose to complement their coursework with a structured internship component. These opportunities extend the experiential learning model described in the program overview, allowing students to apply academic knowledge in a professional and institutional context.
For students interested in gaining insight into the inner workings of a university environment, UniCollege offers structured internships across several functional areas. These opportunities are particularly suited to students in the following majors and disciplinary fields:

Ideal for students in education, pedagogy, humanities, linguistics, or social sciences. Interns support faculty in class preparation, tutoring, and learning engagement across more than 30 academic courses.

Suitable for students in psychology, counseling, educational sciences, or social work. Interns contribute to mentoring services, peer-support initiatives, and student wellbeing programs (subject to availability).
(3 and up to 9 US Credits)
Relevant for students in language studies, applied linguistics, TESOL, translation, or interpreting. Interns serve as language tutors, conversation partners, and assistants within multilingual educational settings.
All internships take place on campus under the direct supervision of a designated UniCollege staff member and are designed to integrate with the academic and operational structure described in the program framework. Each internship consists of 45 hours of supervised activities, awarding 3 US credits, with the possibility of extending to 6 credits through additional hours.
Students interested in pursuing an internship must indicate their preferred area on the application form. Placement is conditional, subject to availability, and evaluated based on academic background, GPA, and field of study. Participation entails an additional fee of € 300,00 for a 3-credit internship or € 600,00 for a 6-credit internship, and of € 900,00 for a 9-credit internship.
All costs indicated below include accommodation and a semester meal plan, as well as the full range of services outlined in the “Additional Services” section. These integrated components are designed to provide students with a comprehensive and structured study abroad experience, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and support across all campuses.
Depending on the inter-institutional agreement between Unicollege and the partner university—whether pre-existing or newly established—Unicollege reserves the right to waive the per-credit cost and structure the collaboration as an exchange program, based on a mutually agreed number of tuition-free participants. Hybrid arrangements combining exchange-based and fee-paying students may also be considered, along with other forms of collaboration, in accordance with the terms defined with each partner institution.

Financial Aid and Accessibility
As a higher education institution—and not a third-party study abroad provider—Unicollege is committed to promoting sustainable and accessible study abroad opportunities across all its programs. Through its university-to-university partnerships, Unicollege supports the applicability and continuity of financial aid awarded by the home institution.
This may include, where eligible, forms of aid such as Title IV funding, Pell Grants, federal or state aid, institutional scholarships, and other recognized funding mechanisms, in accordance with the policies of the home university.
Participating students, faculty, and staff are required to verify directly with their home institution which types of financial aid can be applied to their study abroad program. Unicollege will facilitate all necessary documentation and administrative processes to support the continuation of eligible funding.

Candidates may apply at any time, subject to internship availability, host capacity, and academic calendar alignment.
2. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply at least 4–5 months in advance.
A minimum of 90 days is recommended to complete academic approvals, placement review, and, where applicable, visa procedures.

4. Application Form.
The Internship Application Form includes academic background, preferred internship area, credit intention (non-credit / 3 or up to 9 US credits where available), language proficiency, CV, and a brief statement of objectives connecting the internship to the student’s field of study.
5. Home University Application Approval.
Where required, the application must be approved by the home university or academic advisor, particularly if credit recognition is requested.
6. Unicollege Approval.
Completed applications are submitted to Unicollege for academic and placement review. Internship availability is conditional and subject to evaluation of academic fit, language competence, GPA, and host requirements.
7. Learning Objectives and Governance.
If the internship is offered for credit, learning objectives and academic deliverables are defined in advance in coordination with the student and, where applicable, the home institution.
8. Application Review.
Applications are typically reviewed within 7–10 working days. Upon confirmation of placement, students receive formal acceptance and internship documentation.
9. Installments and Conditions.
After confirmation, participants must submit the first non-refundable installment, including any applicable internship fee (€300 for 3 credits / €600 for 6 credits/€900 for 9 credits, where credit-bearing).
10. Pre-Arrival Assistance.
Prior to arrival, students receive supervision details, academic requirements, and, where relevant, credit documentation outlining evaluation methods and deliverables.
11. Documentation and Final Steps.
Upon completion of the internship and all required academic components, students receive formal documentation. For credit-bearing internships, evaluation and transcript issuance follow established academic procedures; for non-credit internships, students receive an official certificate of completion and supervisor evaluation.
