Two pathways — credit or non-credit

Particularly suited to students in education, pedagogy, humanities, linguistics, psychology, social sciences and related disciplines. Availability depends on academic background, language proficiency and partner requirements.

Credit-bearing internship

Governed through defined learning objectives, supervised professional hours, reflective academic deliverables and faculty evaluation aligned with course outcomes.

  • 3 US credits = ~45 hours supervised activity
  • 6 or 9 US credits = ~90 hours (subject to approval)
  • Structured academic work connecting practice to theory
Non-credit internship

Same supervision and academic reflection requirements, concluding with:

  • Faculty evaluation
  • Documented completion
  • Portfolio-ready evidence of experiential learning

Ideal for students seeking professional exposure without transcripted credit.

Eligibility & conditions

Participation is conditional and subject to confirmation by the Unicollege Admissions Office. Placement depends on disciplinary fit, academic standing, GPA and institutional context. Credit-bearing internships may entail an additional administrative contribution.

Structured in-house internships across functional areas of the university, on campus under direct supervision of a designated Unicollege staff member.

Housing & meal plan costs (AY 2026-27)

Mandatory for all participants, across campuses. Internship fees are additional (see above). Per-credit cost may be waived or restructured by inter-institutional agreement (exchange / hybrid / fee-paying).

Access to facilities across Florence, Mantua, Milan and Turin, plus student-life activities.

Coverage while attending classes on Unicollege premises.

Includes grade conversions, compliant with U.S. academic standards.

Financial-aid continuity

Supports Title IV, Pell Grants, federal/state and institutional scholarships where eligible.

Enrolment — step-by-step

Applications open year-round. Apply at least 4–5 months in advance (minimum 90 days).

    Email the Study Abroad Office at francesca.serra@unicollege.eu to request the Internship Application Form.

    Complete the form

    Academic background, preferred internship area, credit intention (non-credit / 3–9 US credits), language proficiency, CV and objectives statement.

    Home-university approval

    Where required — particularly if credit recognition is requested — approval by the home university or academic advisor.

  4. 4

    Unicollege review

    Academic and placement review. Availability conditional on academic fit, language competence, GPA and host requirements.

  5. 5

    Learning objectives & governance

    For credit-bearing internships, learning objectives and academic deliverables are defined in advance.

    Review confirmation

    Typically reviewed within 7–10 working days. Formal acceptance and documentation follow.

    First instalment

    Non-refundable installment including internship fee where applicable (€300 / €600 / €900).

    Pre-arrival assistance

    Supervision details, academic requirements and credit documentation (where relevant).

    Completion & documentation

    Credit-bearing: evaluation & transcript. Non-credit: certificate of completion and supervisor evaluation.
